In this three block class, students will learn foundational skills to prepare them to be successful in a technical program.
The Pre-Tech Exploratory (PTE) follows a Standards-based curriculum that emphasizes the development of critical thinking, reasoning, and problem solving. Students learn applied foundational skills designed to prepare them for success in:
• Core classes
• Technical Programs
• Workplace environment
Students ‘shadow’ Service Core and Construction Core programs.
Enrolled students explore our Building Trades, Electrical, Automotive, and/or Plumbing and HVAC programs.However if there is a strong interest in another program, they have the opportunity to shadow and learn skills that will help them be successful in any of our tech programs. Students will learn communication skills, teambuilding and problem solving, basic math, reading-related history and science.
Each Pre-Technical Program has suggested embedded credits of Math, English, Social Studies, Science and two electives. Each student has the opportunity to earn an OSHA Certification and exploration of dual enrollment within technical programs.
