The Plumbing and Heating Program prepares students for careers as a licensed plumber or climate control technician. Students will learn how to install, service, and repair environmental systems that control temperature, humidity and air quality. Students also gain hands-on skills installing basic plumbing systems. There is an emphasis on applied math and pipefitting skills.

College Credit and Industry Certification

Students who master all required competencies may receive Association of General Contrators Certification and:

  • 300 hours credited toward the Plumbing Apprenticeship Program
  • OSHA 10 hour card

 

Related Academics

Students interested in this program should consider courses in algebra, geometry, chemistry, physics or technology and design courses. If a student is interested in owning his/her own business, then courses in accounting, entrepreneurship or business law could also prove to be helpful. A sound background in problem solving and reading comprehension is also helpful.

Students from this program are typically hired by local plumbing and heating contractors such as New England Air Systems, Vermont Mechanical Inc., members of the Vermont Fuel Oil Dealer’s Association and Engelberth Construction.
