Thumbnail Description

The Cooperative Education Program is for the second year student and offers an opportunity to work directly in their career of choice. Cooperative Education students must be enrolled in a Barre Technical Center program, be a top graduate of that same program, and have a strong recommendation from their technical instructor. Non-wage and wage job placements are arranged in the community under the supervision of a licensed cooperative education instructor who works with the student, employer and the classroom instructor. Acceptance into the cooperative education program is a privilege. Many placements lead to full time employment after high school graduation or part time employment while attending college.

The Cooperative Education program is a support service to all of the technical programs. Students will keep a log, complete assignments and will meet with the employer and cooperative coordinator for regular evaluations on their work assignments. Attendance, workplace skills and student initiative are all important factors of student success in this program. Co-op Students will work 4 days and attend a required academic day each week at the Technical Center.
