Business and Leadership Studies

The Business and Leadership Studies program provides students the opportunity to learn and practice skills needed to organize and manage a business. They examine theory and explore practical application of day-to-day management, promotion and legal concerns. Students will use technology to develop business processes, build and analyze strategy, and explore ethical best practices in the changing world of business.

A variety of projects encompassing emerging technology trends, digital ethics and e-business concepts allow students to see where small enterprise fits in today's global society.

Over the next five years, the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates job growth in Vermont in market research, advertising and sales, and service industry management. In addition to small business management knowledge this program provides the foundation for entry-level jobs in those predicted growth areas in the state.

Related Academics

Program completers may decide to pursue post-secondary education to study one of the traditionally recognized business-related career areas: business management/administration, business ownership, accounting/actuary and sales.

Students should have a solid grasp of written and spoken language and basic computer and mathematical skills. Accounting would be a good complement to the Business and Leadership Studies program.
